Clothing Design Fashion
Having left school at 16, I pestered a fashion agency until it gave me a job. The agency sold everything from up-market labels to basement goods. My job was to sell blankT-shirts that we got from China to printers so they could put slogans on them.
Next, I was employed by a traditional menswear boutique. I worked with designers and manufacturers, which gave me the experience to go out on my own. As a result, our first shop, Mooks, was born in 1993.
It was a move away from traditional clothing into the uncharted waters of street wear, something we take for granted today. People laughed at the time, saying I would have to sell a lot of T-shirts to make money, and I just laughed back. There were a couple of tight years but it paid off.
Between 2001 and 2003, my wife, Anita, and I had a son and daughter. Anita started making Ts and sweats for the kids. It was a hobby more than anything. Her maiden name was Horn so the label became Littlehorn.
Because of costs, we decided to move our business to Indonesia. We set up a small factory and a studio in Bali and go back to Australia frequently for work. This year, we showed our first comprehensive collection all over the country.
